I lost my husband, John, in May of 06, after he lost his courageous battle with cancer.  We were married August 7, 1975, and had many wonderful years together.  John joined the military, the Army, in March of 1975, and we were stationed all over the United States, and he did two tours in Germany, one in Hondurus, and one in Saudi Arabia.
John recieved many honors and awards while he was in the Army, including a Merritory Service Medal, Army Commondation Medal,  Kuwait Liberation Medal, and others.  I was very proud of my husband and his accomplishments.  This country meant a lot to him.

John had a deep love for his family, and when his mom and dad retired, and needed to move, we moved them in with us.  He has a son Chris, who lives in Colorado, that he was also very, very proud of.

John and I fell in love with the Birman cats, which was no surprise, as he loved animals so much.  He was the main picture taker of our kittens, and in 2005 one of his pictures was even published in a coffee table book.  He was becoming so good with his photography, and he kept active with this throughout his battle with cancer, when  he was so sick.  He was a good man, and refused to give up, working at his job all through the chemotherapy, up until a week before he joined our Lord.

John was a big Nascar fan, and so enjoyed the race weekends  with our family and friends.  It was something he looked so forward to, and I am so glad that he made it to that last race weekend, shortly before his passing.  The race weekends will not be the same for any of us, without him there picking on his family  and friends about their drivers.

John was also a big fan of fishing, and we took many fishing trips with family and friends .  Just hours  before he passed away, John  told me that he was going fishing with Jesus.

I would like to thank all my family and friends for their support, it has helped make a very difficult time just a bit easier to bear.

I would also like to say a big thank you to the Birman community of breeders and friends, who were all so supportive, sending emails, cards, and flowers, and the donations made to the Winn Foundation in John's name.  This would mean the world to him, to think that his passing may help the kitties he loved so much.

Rest in peace, John, I will always love you.
Till we meet again
